Czech kickboxer Tereza Zuntova has expressed her satisfaction after taking third
place at last weekend's austrian classic tournament.
Zuntova, making her comeback after a 3-month lay-off collected the bronze medal
in the light contact +65kg category. she commented that she was "quite
happy with that because the competition was tough. there were only "a
class" fighters in attendance and the standard was really high".
She also admitted that her absence from competition over recent months may
have been what ultimately cost her. having beaten Hungary's Viktoria
Voros 3:0 in her first fight, Tereza reached the semi-final with a 2:1 victory
over Italy's Irene Marangoni. in the semi, against a tough opponent,
Zuntova lead after the first round, but in her 3rd match in the space of half
an hour, the time out of the ring began to take it's toll and local
girl Nicole Trimmel fought back late on to take the bout 2:1 and secure her
place in the final.
Tereza managed to be philosophical though and was pleased with her top three
finish from 19 competitors in the division. she said "it was the first
competition I've been to after a 3 month break, so I believe I can be
proud of my achievement here and that my results in the next ones will get better
and better. The standard here was exceptionally high and this kind of competition
is exactly what I need to improve my fitness in preparing to compete for another
world title".
