Send first Mexican woman to Fechschule America Tournament

a micro-fundraising effort is underway on behalf of a young mexican woman, mariana lópez, so she can attend the fechtschule america western martial arts seminar and tournament, to be held in houston next month.
mariana's work is in european medieval martial arts, but i hope her status of a young woman transcends cultural bounds.
at the age of 16, mariana founded the western martial arts organization yggdrasil völker. now 20, she is hoping to attend this tournament on behalf of her organization. she would be the first mexican woman ever to attend.

hello, my name is mariana lópez. i am a 20-year old mexican woman, and an avid student of medieval mixed martial arts. i am trying to raise money to attend an important seminar in this field, fechtshule america.
thank you for visiting to learn more about me, why i would like to attend this seminar, and how you can help.
i’m the founder and an instructor at the historical reanactment and western martial arts academy yggdrasil völker (i know, a complicated viking name!). we will be 5 years old in june 2012, and we are the only wma academy in my state (guanajuato). we constantly run our own seminars to get people involved, and to help existent wma groups keep in contact. everything i learn at fectshule america i will also teach to my group. we really want to grow and be more prepared, but i’m also going to be the only one of us going this year.
as we all are students, the group has no funds to help me… i have earned the money for the registration fees and i have booked my travel, but even with my work, i will not have enough money for food, hotel, and some fencing equipment i will need. i’m frantic to raise the money because i will be traveling the 15 of march! i hope you will subscribe to my blog as i chart my progress raising funds for this exciting opportunity.
